About ArrestVault
ArrestVault is an independent directory of US county-level arrest records, jail rosters, and inmate lookup resources โ built to make scattered public records easy to find and easy to act on.
Our mission
Public criminal records in the United States are scattered across more than 3,000 county sheriff offices, an equally large set of county clerks of court, and 50+ state corrections departments. Each one operates on its own schedule, publishes its own format, and applies its own interpretation of the relevant state public records statute. The result, for the average person trying to look up a record, is a confusing maze.
ArrestVault was built to be the single starting point. We organize the landscape county-by-county across all 3,235 US counties and county-equivalents, give each jurisdiction a structured page, and connect users with bar-licensed criminal defense attorneys when a record raises questions worth a professional opinion.
What we cover
- Arrest records. Bookings logged by county sheriffs, including charges, bond, and arresting agency.
- Jail rosters. Live lists of individuals currently in custody at county detention facilities.
- Booking logs. Rolling 24/48/72-hour records of recent bookings.
- Court records. Pointers to the relevant clerk of court system for criminal case dispositions.
- Mugshots & booking photos. Where they are published and how the law treats them in each state.
- Attorney connections. Free consultations with bar-licensed criminal defense attorneys.
Where our data comes from
The directory structure โ every state, every county, every FIPS code โ is sourced from the US Census Bureau's ANSI/FIPS national county codes file, the federal government's authoritative list of US counties and county-equivalents. This is the same dataset used by federal agencies and is in the public domain.
Beyond the directory structure, ArrestVault aggregates information about how each county handles arrest records, jail rosters, court records, and booking photos. We do not host or republish the underlying arrest records themselves โ we point users to the official county source and explain how to access it.
